Physical home security · Melbourne's east & south-east

Most break-ins take 30 seconds. We find the weak points before they do.

The weak points that make a home an easy target are usually simple — a side gate, a sliding window, a dark path, an exposed garage. We find them and close them properly, so yours stops being the easy one on the street. It starts with a free visit — and there's never pressure to buy a thing.

What we do

We make your home the one they skip.

Most homes don't need more subscriptions, apps or complicated tech — they need the obvious gaps closed: a weak side gate, an exposed garage, a dark side path, an unlocked mailbox, parcels left visible from the street, or windows that are easy to test. We find them and close them, starting with the one that matters most.

Stop the easy entries

Security screen doors & windows

Stainless-steel screens that look like an ordinary flyscreen but hold like a locked gate — leave the door open for the breeze and stay locked up tight.

Sliding door & window locks

The easiest way into most homes: a sliding door lifted off its track in seconds. We fit track and window locks that stop it dead — minutes to install, barely any cost.

Garage overnight lockout

The door most people forget to lock. We secure the remote, the internal door and the side access — closing the quiet route straight into your home.

Close the quiet ways in

Lockable side gates

The side gate is the quietest way to your back door, out of sight of the street. We lock and reinforce it so no one wanders down unnoticed.

Fence extenders & anti-climb spikes

A low fence is an invitation. We raise it and top it with anti-climb spikes — hard to get over, easy to walk past, and completely possum-safe.

Solar motion floodlights

Nothing sends someone off faster than being lit up. Solar motion floodlights cover the dark paths, driveways and blind spots — no wiring, no electrician.

Harden the soft targets

Defensive landscaping

Security that looks like a garden. Prickly planting and solid planter barriers quietly close off soft, exposed frontage — with no ugly hardware in sight.

Lockable mail & parcel boxes

Your mailbox is your identity. Lockable mail and parcel boxes keep bank letters, new cards and deliveries out of reach — and off the street.

Tools, ladders & lock-up

Your own ladder is how they reach the top window. We spot the tools, bins and furniture that make it easy — then lock them away for good.

Driveway add-on

Vehicle Theft Deterrent Pack

While we're in your driveway, we can sort the other soft target — your car. Keyless and OBD-port theft is rife across the south-east. The pack covers a Faraday pouch or box so your keys can't be scanned, an OBD-port lock, a steering wheel club and anti-theft number-plate screws. Just ask on the day.

We can also supply wireless video cameras, safes and lockboxes on request — supply only. We leave regulated alarm and camera installation to licensed installers.

Straight talk on price

You'll always see the number first.

Plenty of what we find costs nothing — it's a latch, a habit, a light left on. When there's work worth doing, you get a clear price up front, and you're free to do it yourself, have us do it, or leave it. No call-out fee, no surprise bills.

Front and back doors, sliding doors, screen doors and accessible windows — the points most break-ins actually go through.

Side gates, fences & dark spots

The quiet way in: side paths, gate latches, low or climbable fences, and the unlit corners no one watches.

3

Garage, driveway & vehicle

Garage remotes and routines, internal access doors — plus keyless and OBD-port car theft right off your driveway.

4

Mail, parcels & ID exposure

Mailbox condition, parcels left in street view, and the documents that quietly hand someone your identity.

5

Your priority fix-list

What to do first, what can wait, and where the biggest gain is for the least money — written down so you keep it.

Who you're dealing with

Break-ins kept getting closer. So I started Safehaus.

I'm Keith. Over the last few years I've watched break-ins climb across Melbourne's east and south-east — friends, neighbours, streets I know well. And almost every time, what people got sold was an alarm or a camera, when the real problem was the simple physical gaps that let someone in to begin with.

For years I worked as an auditor — a chartered accountant paid to find the weak points everyone else had already signed off on. It's the same eye I bring to your home: where the easy way in is, what's been overlooked, what someone would test first. I've since renovated enough properties to know exactly where homes are soft. So you get both — an auditor's eye for the gap, a renovator's feel for how a home is actually built, and a straight answer on what will genuinely make yours safer.

How it works

Simple. Fast. Practical.

Book the walk-through

Tell us your suburb, property type and what you're worried about: doors, garage, side gate, parcels, holiday travel or general weak points.

We find the gaps

We walk the outside and key access areas of the home, looking for the low-effort entry points most households miss.

You get next steps

A practical list of what to fix first, what can wait, and where a quote or trade referral makes sense.

Questions

Before you book.

Is the walk-through really free? What's the catch?

It's genuinely free — no call-out fee, no obligation. We do it because if you later decide to upgrade something, you might ask us to quote it. If you don't, you still walk away with a free written to-do list. No catch.

What do I actually get from the visit?

A walk of your home's weak points the way an intruder would see them, clear recommendations on what to close first, and — where it helps — a quote for simple physical upgrades. Even if you do nothing else, you'll know exactly where you're exposed.

How long does it take, and do I need to be home?

About 15 minutes. It helps if you're home so we can check gates, the garage and any spots you're worried about, but a lot of the assessment is done from the outside. Tell us your situation when you book and we'll work around it.

If I decide to do some work, what will it cost?

That's entirely up to you — many of the fixes we find are simple and free to do yourself. Anything we'd quote, like security screens, gates, lighting or boxes, is priced up front so there are no surprises, and you're never obligated to go ahead.

Who's coming into my home — can I trust them?

Every visit is done by Keith personally — police-checked, Public Liability insured, and local to the area. You deal with one person start to finish, not a rotating crew, and you get a straight read on where your home is weak with no pressure.

Do you do the work, or just tell me what to fix?

Both, where it makes sense. Simple fixes we'll list for free so you can do them yourself. For screens, gates, lighting, spikes, planters or boxes we can quote and arrange the work, and where a licensed trade is the right call (electrical, locksmithing), we'll point you to one.

Can I book it for my parents, a rental, or while I'm away?

Yes. Plenty of our walk-throughs are booked by adult children for elderly parents, by landlords for rental properties, or by people heading off on holiday. Just give us the address and let us know who to coordinate with.

Which suburbs do you cover?
